FAQs

What is The Reigate Rhetoric?

The Reigate Rhetoric is a new Toastmasters club based in Reigate, Surrey, UK.

Rhetoric is is the art of using speech to convince or persuade, and derives from the Ancient Greek. It is often used to describe parliamentary speech making, but covers everything from that to a discussion around a dinner table, and includes pitching for business or funds.

What is Toastmasters?

This can sometimes be a point of confusion, especially here in the UK. People can expect stout gentlemen in red jackets crying “Oh Yea! Oh Yea!”

We are not like that. Toastmasters International is an international educational non-profit organisation that operates clubs worldwide to promote communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. The Reigate Rhetoric is a member of that family.

When do you meet?

We usually meet very 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, but check out our meeting calendar before you come to ensure that we will be there as expected.
